Dr Islam has 35 years of experience as a family physician and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and a Fellow of the College of Rural and Remote Medicine.
He obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in Bangladesh and moved to South Africa to further develop and enhance his medical skills. After this, Dr Islam relocated to Australia with his young family and worked in various rural and remote locations before starting his family medicine practice in Berwick.
Along the way, Dr Islam obtained his Diploma in Skin Cancer Medicine and routinely performs skin cancer checks and surgeries. In 2017, Dr Islam undertook training in circumcision and vasectomy at Pollock Clinics in Vancouver, Canada, under the renowned Dr Neil Pollock, MD.
Besides Eden Rise Family Clinic, he also looks after minor trauma, acute medicine, and nursing home residents in aged care facilities. Dr Islam is also a supervisor to trainee General Practitioners and has supervised eight registrars to full completion in GP training.
